Privacy Policy

Effective 25 September 2026

Omeo: Talk to Strangers ("Omeo", "we", "us") is a random text-chat app that runs as an Activity inside Discord. This policy explains what information Omeo handles, why, and for how long.

The short version

1. Who we are

Omeo is an independent app made by an individual developer. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Discord Inc. or Omegle. Your use of Discord itself is covered by Discord's Privacy Policy.

2. What we handle and why

Information Why we use it How long we keep it
Discord account basics When you open Omeo, Discord asks you to allow it basic access to your account (the "identify" permission). We use your Discord user ID, username, display name and language setting to sign you in, enforce bans, check that your account is at least 7 days old, suggest your country, match you with people who speak your language, and for the username swap if you agree to it. Discord also shares a few other basic profile fields, such as your avatar. Omeo doesn't use or keep them. Only while you're connected. Your sign-in expires after 24 hours.
Your Omeo profile Your nickname, country, gender and interests, all optional. They're saved on your device and sent to our server only while you're searching or chatting, to match you and to show to your chat partner. On your device until you change or clear them. Not stored on our servers.
Messages Passed to your chat partner. They're checked automatically for links and banned words first. We keep the last 30 messages of an open chat (up to 4,000 characters) in memory only so that a report can include them. Deleted when the chat ends, unless the chat is reported.
Block list When you block someone, your device saves an anonymous block code for them, plus their nickname, country, gender and the date. The block code is one-way: it can't be turned back into a Discord ID. It's sent to our server only while you search, so you aren't matched with people you blocked. On your device until you unblock them.
Reports When someone reports a chat, the reason, the nicknames both people used in Omeo, and that chat's recent messages from both people are saved on our server so a moderator can review them. The people involved are identified only by anonymous one-way codes, not by Discord ID or username. Until a moderator has reviewed it, and at most 30 days.
Ban records If you are banned, we store a one-way code made from your Discord ID (never the ID itself), the reason, and when the ban ends. This lets us keep banned people out. Until the ban ends. Permanent bans are kept for as long as Omeo runs.
Daily totals Counts for each hour, such as app opens, chats, messages, average chat length and wait time, the most people online at once, and how many reports, blocks and username swaps happened. They help us see how Omeo is doing. They contain no IDs and no message content, so they can't be linked to you. As long as Omeo runs.
Technical logs Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, keeps short-lived logs of requests to our server and of errors, so we can keep Omeo running and fix problems. These logs can include your Discord user ID and username. Up to 7 days.

We don't use third-party analytics or tracking, and we don't store IP addresses or use them to work out where you are.

3. What other people see

4. Who we share data with

We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't share it with advertisers or data brokers. We never use Discord data for advertising.

5. Cookies and local storage

Omeo doesn't use cookies. It uses your browser's local storage, on your own device, to remember your profile, your "only match people who share an interest" setting, and your block list. You can edit your profile and unblock people in Omeo at any time.

6. Children

Omeo is for people who are allowed to use Discord: at least 13, or older where the law in your country requires it. It isn't meant for children under 13. We don't ask for your age. If you believe a child under 13 is using Omeo, please tell us.

7. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, for example in the EU or UK, you may also have the right to access, correct or delete your data, to object to how it's used, and to complain to your data protection authority. We handle the information above because it's needed to provide Omeo and keep it safe.

8. Security and where data is processed

Connections to Omeo are encrypted. Ban codes and block codes are one-way codes made with a secret key, so they can't be turned back into Discord IDs. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep what we hold to a minimum. Cloudflare runs servers around the world, so your information may be processed outside your country.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top. We'll announce important changes in our Discord server or in Omeo.

10. Contact us

For questions or requests about your data, message us in the official Omeo Discord server.
